RESEARCH USE
Where UGENE fits
Import sequences, alignments, annotations, and assembly data into a desktop project, run built-in or external algorithms, and connect repeated tasks in Workflow Designer. Record input databases and reference versions, algorithms, parameters, external-tool versions, logs, and output formats, and cross-check important results with an independent command-line workflow when appropriate.
Research tasks
- View, edit, and annotate nucleotide or protein sequences
- Run multiple-sequence alignment, phylogenetic, and selected NGS tasks
- Compose reusable bioinformatics workflows through a graphical interface
What to evaluate before use
- Integrated third-party algorithms retain their own assumptions, versions, and licenses. A successful graphical run does not show that a method is suitable for the data.
- Large datasets can exceed desktop memory and compute limits. Database versions, parameters, and intermediate files should be retained outside the final project file.
